The Jesus Mary Joseph Home is a shelter
for the homeless. This service is provided by a Catholic Community in the name of Christ. Shelter for the homeless was started by Peter |

  | Carota in 1982 along with his efforts to found the St. Francis Catholic Soup Kitchen in Santa Cruz. He soon found out that there was a great need for the poor going to the Soup Kitchen to have some sort of |

shelter so he began finding means to house them. He started with a van. Then in
the Beach Flats he found a store front. When he was asked to leave the Boardwalk area,
he purchased a set of buildings at 132 Lennox St. in 1987. Since then it has sheltered
many, many people. Persons and families who need shelter in our home are interviewed before being accepted. An interview can be obtained by calling the director at (831) 459-8046. There is no discrimination according to race, creed, color or sex.

The Jesus Mary Joseph Home is a unique program for its residents. The JMJ home not
only provides food, clothing and shelter but love to those who are in need.
|
| The Jesus Mary Joseph Home is a Christian non-profit community. The Home receives no money from the government. It depends entirely on the Providence of God and the generosity of friends of the Home and the support of the St. Francis Catholic Soup Kitchen with which it is affiliated. |
